Just watched Matt Cutts brief talk on TED, about doing something new for 30 days. Well I’m 2 days in and still going.
So what am I trying to do – firstly posting to my blog every day trying to generate useful content. Yesterday say a post about your digital footprint and today I’m going to follow the same theme and discuss social media tools for Facebook.
I’ve just started playing with a Facebook fan page and I’m slowly getting my head around creating simple apps to wrap in content from my webserver. You might say there’s already apps to do that but I’m going for the customisation aspect, being able to reflect the Facebook users name and also provide randomised content dependent on the data they post in forms.
On top of this took a look at a friends company page – Arrowsmith Marketing – to see what he’s doing (should we say borrow / steal). Just a couple of apps he’s added which took no time at all to get into my page.
- Twitter – a tab that pulls in my company twitter feed (just set up one of those as well) – advice4theweb if your interested
- LinkedIn – this took a little bit of configuration but got there in the end – what’s interesting is you can either add you own profile or your company profile
Well that’s it for now, just need to start posting content to all these different networks and hopefully start to see my reputation increase, who knows I might even keep it up.
